It began by me watching youtube tutorials on Ball jointed dolls and sculpting the figure in a bid to improve and refine my techniques for sculpting in fondant… so inspired I went out and bought a packet of paper clay and got to work with whatever tools I had at home. I think she is coming on very nicely…
The beauty of it is that you can add to it when it is dry, you can sculpt into the dry material and sand it smooth, you can keep playing with it until it is right!! Love that!!
The plan for the doll and instructions are on Aimi-doll.com but you have to translate it from japanese and google translate does not always make sense… but the photos are pretty instructive by themselves…
I have some beautiful eyes on order for her and a wig. It is for my daughter based on an anime character she created… so she will have purple eyes and teal hair. I may have to sew her outfit as I don’t think she is a standard size… being a DIY project!!
I will post some pics when she is finished…
Enjoy!
